Looks like I got this done before Wednesday after all~
This scene has been an interesting ride… Originally, it wasn’t meant to be anything that significant. I was just planning to introduce some smaller tidbits on Leila and David’s working relationship and double down on this whole Phone Thing going on right now. Halfway through it, though, I started rewriting it. Repeatedly… Every page, honestly, I’d come to a point where I had a new idea that I wanted to include that would enrich the series as a whole down the line. The Vase is only part of it…
In solving the vase issue, establishing the rules around how all of that will work, I discovered a few things about David and Leila and their relationship to one another that I hadn’t realized before and couldn’t do without exploring…
Of course, I can’t go into too much detail on the changes just yet, but… let’s say that the original draft of this scene had a much more amiable and friendly exchange between them. Where they are in their own storylines (regrettably SUBDUED storylines for the time being while the current main plotlines are in play), thought, the amount of trust I was writing between them just isn’t there. Not in how I’ve written the way different casters view each other in this world…
But already, I’ve said too much. Let’s leave it with… Tension. There’s a lot of it here. And I’m excited to get to more places to explore it~
